Happy Birthday Mailee!

Obedience

Lately sobrang daming message sa akin on OBEDIENCE. One word that may sound simple but in reality ang bigat pala niya. It's not easy and I'm sure you know that. Pero why do we choose to obey ba if alam naman natin na it will cause suffering lang or it's not what we want?

I guess the answer to that is simple. The only question we have to answer is... who do I want please? In all decision making naman there are "stakeholders" diba? You just have to choose who of these you would rather please. Kaninong approval ba ang importante? Other people? Your loved ones? Yourself? or God?

I have this officemate, friend and sister in Christ na itago na lang natin sa pangalang POLA. (Hehe!) She has inspired me in so many ways and one of those is her obedience. Ibang klase ang obedience ng batang ito. And if you will look into her life now she is a very clear picture of God's faithfulness. She is the perfect example on how God's love can really bring out the best in you. Her obedience to God is just so amazing and sobrang inspired ako on what God has been doing in her life. She is blessed in every single way. Hindi man siya ang pinaka successful in terms of career , finances or love life but she is a whole person and blessed with the things that really matter. Her life is a very clear message that God is just and faithful to those who are obedient to Him.

I have long way to go on being an obedient child of God. Lately I still choose to follow my own decisions or wants instead of asking God what He wants for me. But God's grace is sufficient. He is faithful. Small steps of faith lang I'm sure I'll get there someday.

And when that day comes... I really pray that these are the words I'll receive from my God...

".... 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
Matt 25:21

My holy week

Most of my holy week was spent just resting at home. I finally got that rest I've been wanting to have. I'm into meds because of this severe cough and I am hoping it would go away soon because I really miss going to the gym. (Doctor advised me not to go to the gym muna while I still have this.)

Anyway here's a rundown of the (I'm sure not exciting for you) things I did over the holidays.

THURSDAY...First day of vacation was spent with an early date with Chuck at Chili's Greenhills. Our favorite place. =) We haven't gone out for a while because of work so this was really something for us. We then went to Metrowalk for some dibidis. We got TMNT, 300 (even though we saw it already) and season 1 and 2 of Veronica Mars (for me!). On our way out we passed by this store selling mp3 compilations and found some interesting stuff that we eventually bought. We bought 2 5-disc compilation of music from the late 80's and early 90's. Ang cool. Sound trip kami pag uwi.

FRIDAY...Morning was spent with the Lord. I had the time to read my Bible and have some prayer and quiet time. I prayed for the Lord to heal this cough because I was really having a hard time breathing already that morning (7th day of the cough already). I was scared that it would turn into asthma eventually. (I was diagnosed last year.) I started crying in my prayer kasi I realized why I waited for the 7th day to ask God for help. Me and my pride. Believe it or not that afternoon I was feeling much better. I still have traces of the cough and are still into meds as per doctor's advice but I'm definitely better. God is good. And alive! He's not dead just because it's Good Friday. Haller!
Rest of the day was spent watching 7th Heaven. I forgot how I loved that show.

SATURDAY ...Another 7th Heaven day. Hehe! But in the afternoon Chuck and I finally did something we've been wanting to do for a long time. Have coffee! Haha! Syempre not just coffee. We've been wanting to do that... just go to a coffee shop wearing shorts and slippers... doing anything to pass the time like read a book. My time was spent doing my assignment for CBSI (Community Bible Study Intl) where I'm kinda enrolled. We're studying the book of Thessalonians ngayon.

SUNDAY...Tomorrow we're planning to go to Shangrila (my favorite mall) after church. Samahan namin niece ni Chuck for Easter Egg hunt.
I kinda miss Power Plant but as Chuck said... wallet daw niya di namimiss! Haha! Fine! Last time we went there kasi on a Sunday afternoon... hmm we kinda got excited that we spent quite a big amount of money for a date. Oh well! Next time I guess. (Chuck: Pag asa Lawson na kami. Haha!)

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! HE IS RISEN!

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”- Galatians 2:20

And You lived
You died
You rose again on high
You opened the way for the world to live again
Hallelujah, for all You’ve done

ERASER - to remind you that everyone makes mistakes, and it's okay...

"But now that their father was dead, Joseph’s brothers became fearful. “Now Joseph will show his anger and pay us back for all the wrong we did to him,” they said.
So they sent this message to Joseph: “Before your father died, he instructed us to say to you: ‘Please forgive your brothers for the great wrong they did to you—for their sin in treating you so cruelly.’ So we, the servants of the God of your father, beg you to forgive our sin.” When Joseph received the message, he broke down and wept. Then his brothers came and threw themselves down before Joseph. “Look, we are your slaves!” they said.
But Joseph replied, “Don’t be afraid of me. Am I God, that I can punish you? You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. No, don’t be afraid. I will continue to take care of you and your children.” So he reassured them by speaking kindly to them."

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Let Your Light Shine

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

I studied in STC for 11 years (prep to high school). And for those 11 years I thought I've already absorbed the school motto.

Theresians, let your light shine and be a blessing.

Who wouldn't right? It's something I see and hear every single day. BUt recently I realized I really haven't absorbed it until now. It was just something I memorized and not actually lived up to.

Some of the things I learned....

- To shine is to be the best that you can be. You don't have to be perfect. God doesn't expect us to be perfect.

- We should accept the fact that we are all flawed and are living under God's grace. He just wants us to be the best version of ourselves. Remember that you can always do better.

- To be a light does not mean being a people pleaser. Always try to perform for the audience of one. If you do everything for the Lord you can never go wrong.

- It is important to have the right motives. We as humans can do good things for the wrong reasons. Remember that God looks at the heart and not the action.
